Martine (she/her) has a profound bilateral deafness, bilingual/bimodal in British Sign Language + English, with clear speech. She is an actress, presenter, writer, comedian and consultant. She has most recently done a stand-up comedy show with Gavin Lilley early 2025, and has recently filmed a comedy panel series. She has also consulted with Hollyoakes and Waterloo Road for their storylines involving a deaf character. Her biggest achievement to date is creating a positive terminology document in deaf education and audiology, to remove the use of 'hearing impaired'. Next on her 'to-do' list is to get festivals to start implementing Bluetooth streaming for deaf festival goers!
