Maria is eager to increase representation of scars in the beauty industry and empower young people. Like us all, Maria’s journey to self-discovery and self-love has its challenges, but was uniquely brazened after a life-saving operation marked her torso with a striking, 10-inch keloid scar. Maria knows scars aren’t simply a reminder of wounding, but also the courageous human ability to heal and overcome. Like our bodies, scars are maps of our lives, worthy and deserving of being seen, admired, and provocative. When not in the studio, Maria can be found drinking copious amounts of matcha, mulling over novels, politics, and philosophy, writing (always writing), or practicing her growing fluency of British-isms.
