Hungarian trumpeter and composer Barabás Lőrinc, born with one arm, has been a key figure in Budapest’s improvised music scene for nearly two decades. 

Formerly a swimmer, he has since become known for his boundary-pushing work across jazz, electronic, and neoclassical genres. His minimalist, melancholic compositions on his latest solo album 22 evoke the style of Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds. 

Since 2007, Lőrinc has released twelve albums, performed internationally, and collaborated with artists like Takuya Kuroda and Nicola Conte. His works for symphony orchestra, Metamorphosis (2019) and Game (2022), have expanded his reach into contemporary classical music. 

In his solo performances, Lőrinc combines trumpet, piano, synths, and loop stations, creating unique, improvisational compositions that blend jazz, classical, and electronica. His multiinstrumental live act is both captivating and innovative.
