Her medical journey is complex, and Kate carries four major diagnoses: 1Q21.1 microduplication, a rare gene diagnosed at age two; Autism, diagnosed at age four; Tourette Syndrome, diagnosed at age eight; and intellectual disabilities. She also experienced a regression with expressive language at age five that rendered her nonverbal, so she communicates with help from an app called TouchChat on her iPad (an AAC device).
There has always been a big life inside of Kate, and she’s eager to live it. She’s a free spirit who loves to have fun and embrace adventure, including travel. She has a lot to say and do in the world, and she is sure to win hearts and minds along the way. Kate is based on the west coast.
