BIOGRAPHY

Actor/ model/ spoken word artist Ekow Otoo had aspirations to be a philosophy lecturer but when MUltiple sclerosis changed his life he dove into the creative arts. He has always been a poet writing about the human experience and the weight of emotions that are attached to it. Through this he found his love for acting as it allows him to tell such stories in so many different ways.

Ekow is a laid back and creative individual, He has a positive demeanour and incredibly easy to get along with. He started writing poetry in his teens and has gone on to perform his work at the National Theatre in their first ever black history month event. After being diagnosed with Ms and becoming a wheelchair user in 2014, he has decided to join the effort to change the misconceptions of what people expect disability to look like. Ekow enjoys sports such as wheelchair racing and has won a gold Medal in adaptive rowing, at the UK Senior Championships in 2016.His first appearance on screen was in 2018, in the BFI and Channel 4 produced film Been so long. He has since worked on short films like Approval Needed (2018) which featured in many film festivals. In 2021 Ekow took to the skies in his National Lottery advert gaining a page in several newspapers like the Mirror. In the same year Ekow has also appeared on Eastenders as a guest role. In 2022 he played the main character in a short film on channel 4, (Un) Fit for Work which takes a musical look at how disability and sexuality affected peoples perceived ability to work. In 2023 he continued to make his presence felt in adverts for Amazon and EE doing another advert for EE in 2024.
