BIOGRAPHY
Sarah Joyce is a female disability advocate, model with visual differences and disability along with being a keynote speaker who is determined to make change in the beauty and fashion industry for inclusion and diversity since 2016.
In 2016, Sarah was struck down by Meningococcal. Within 12 hours of feeling unwell she was given a less than 5% chance of survival and was in a come for 9 days. Sarah has since undergone 83 operations, over 200 hospital admissions and has lost 5 major organs. She is extremely determined and not one to shy away despite the challenges. In 2023, Sarah was awarded the National Award for Disability Leadership for Change Making due to her work resulting in changes to policy and legislation to prevent disability and deaths from Meningococcal - the disease that turned her life upside down in 2016. Sarah has appeared in many news outlets, magazines and worldwide media coverage including the Daily Mail and Multiple podcasts with MammaMia, News. com and more, for her advocacy and strong survival journey. Sarah signed with Champion Health Agency in 2021. Prior to 2016, Sarah worked as a nurse for 13 years as a manager and educator who was recognised as one of Australia's most remarkable nurses in 2009 from HESTA, which drives her passion to make meaningful change. Sarah is a strong ambassador and advocate for organ donation as she is a kidney transplant recipient and for other rare conditions, creates content to share online with a strong combined following of over 10k. Sarah has experience in photoshoots in studio on set and also on Location. Showing her true authentic self with scars, medical devices and differences is in hope to inspire others and show diversity and inclusion.
