Alister Hill is a curator, writer, creative producer and artist from Sydney, Hong Kong, and Newcastle Upon Tyne. In 2011 he began a fruitful decade-long career at the Sydney Opera House, specialising in bringing new genres to the Opera House stage; from Wu-Tang Clan, Ice Cube & Skepta through to Lizzo, Yaeji, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Royal Headache, Total Control and many more. Before joining the Opera House team, Alister produced the inaugural MAD SYD in collaboration with René Redzepi’s of noma, and the innovative pop culture and internet-inspired festival, BINGEFEST, as well as co-founding FBi Radio’s long-running Sleepless in Sydney show with Marcus Whale and Cracked with Luke Joseph. Alister has composed three albums of chopped and screwed tape loops released under the pseudonym Lortica via American imprint Illuminated Paths, Danish label Phinery Records & New Weird Australia, as well as pop projects that have received airplay on BBC Radio 6, Triple J & FBi Radio. Alister is currently a member of experimental sextet Worlds Only – based in Sydney and Barcelona – who have played renowned institutions and contemporary music festivals such as Dark Mofo, Soft Centre, Phoenix Central Park and the Art Gallery NSW.
Alister has experience working in studios and on professional sets as a model, extra, musician and agency-side creative across video, still image and live performance.
