Mariah “Beyond Your Definition” Barber (they/she) is a queer, Black, disabled model, actor, poet, bassist, content creator, and voiceover artist living with chronic illness, which shapes their mobility and energy and strengthens their commitment to accessible creative work. With over 15 years of experience, Mariah has built a multidisciplinary career across modeling, indie film, documentaries, podcasting, radio, spoken word, and partnerships with queer-affirming liquor and lifestyle brands.
Their highlights include being named a 2025 GLAAD Magazine “Artist to Watch,” appearing in multiple documentaries, and leading a certified queer-owned creative business amplifying LGBTQIA+ and disabled narratives. A former national haiku champion, Mariah’s poetry and musicexplore themes of justice, intimacy, and belonging, while their content creation centers on authenticity and community storytelling.
Mariah aims to expand disability and queer representation across fashion, film, and digital media. Outside the studio, they enjoy traveling, playing bass, and nurturing community spaces rooted in joy and liberation.
