Matthew is a wheelchair user based in Bath and a recognised polymath across music, sport, academia, and technology. He began his career in music, earning two Gold Discs as a versatile classical and contemporary performer before a spinal injury redirected his path.
He went on to become a decorated wheelchair fencer for Team GB, winning World Cup and World Championships medals and serving as team captain. His creative work extended into performance and fight choreography for global campaigns.
Matthew later transitioned into academia and innovation, becoming a Professor specialising in novel medical technologies and leading projects focused on social impact, including founding Ted’s Light to support young people entering emergency foster care.
