Samuel Maitland is a singer‑songwriter originally from Freetown, Sierra Leone. An experienced guitarist, vocalist, percussionist, and African drum teacher, he has collaborated with a wide range of UK and European artists and continues to work actively as a solo recording artist. His albums Alafia World Citizen and Sweet Sunshine — featuring the popular track “Sunshine Day” — remain among his most recognised releases.
Alongside his music career, Samuel works as a driving instructor and was awarded Intelligent Instructor of the Year 2023. Most recently, he recorded a new single with the London‑based Sierra Leonean collective The Big5, released on 1 August 2024.
